Oliver Valentin’s Story

Why I Created the State Changer Breath Program

Most of my life has been about performing under pressure.
I grew up training as a martial artist and eventually became a two-time Karate World Champion. From the outside, it looked like I had complete control – but what I remember most clearly isn’t the medals, it’s the nerves.

I can still picture myself sitting with friends being in a completely different place, not in the moment but thinking about my next fight at a big tournament. My adrenaline would start to raise, losing connection with my surroundings. My heart was racing, my thoughts were scattered, and my focus was already somewhere else. By the time I stepped into the ring, the physical fight was almost the easy part – the real battle had already been going on inside my own head and body.

That experience planted a seed: if I could learn to control my state, not just my technique, I could unlock a whole different level of performance.

After injuries pushed me out of competition, I searched for answers in yoga, meditation, acrobatics, functional training, and breathwork. What I discovered is that the breath is the most direct lever we have to shift our nervous system. It’s the bridge between chaos and clarity, stress and focus, fatigue and energy.

When I started teaching executives and professionals, I realized they were facing the same battles I did before competitions – only their “arena” is the boardroom, the negotiation table, or the quarterly results presentation. The stakes are high, the pressure is constant, and the ability to control your mental state makes the difference between leading with clarity or burning out.
